Fornost Arnor: The death of a rose

09/11/11  ||  Lord K Philipson

Foremost Anus is a band from the US playing some half-technical, Opeth-ish progressive stuff with a completely irritating production (just listen to those kicks, people) and too long songs. The resemblance between vocalist Greg’s growls and those of Opeth’s Mike are uncanny. Everything just screams “Opeth” about this band’s material, but they hardly pull it off as well as the originals do. It’s not bad at all, nope, the problem is just the fact that I can’t find any joy in listening to bands ripping off another band without even being ashamed of it. Foremost Anus sure got some talent and they do what they can do show it off too. If you like Opeth and do not mind the shit production – there’s no reason you won’t find this enjoyable. Nice “Inspector Gadget” theft in “Nameless fear” by the way. Not.

5,5/10: While somewhat impressive musicianship is available, those clean vocals need to go and the production needs some serious improvement until next time.
